In a major infrastructural boost for Uttar Andhra, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy today laid the foundation stone for multiple projects in Vizianagaram. This includes the Bhogapuram International Airport (₹4,592 crores, Vizag Tech Park (₹21,844 crores), Tarakarama Thirtha Sagaram Project (₹194.40 crores) and Chintapalli Fish Land Centre (₹23.73 crores).

Speaking at a public meeting in Bhogapuram, CM Jagan reiterated that Visakhapatnam will be the administrative capital of the state from September onwards and that his government will go an extra mile to implement the promises made to the people of North Andhra. “The Bhogapuram International Airport is evidence that our government is taking a comprehensive development approach to transform Uttar Andhra. This airport, along with other initiatives, is intended to spur development in North Andhra and making it a hub for jobs in the coming days. The airport along with Vizag Tech Park will be the jewel of Uttar Andhra and the epicentre of glory,” the CM stated.

Elaborating further, CM Jagan mentioned that the new airport will have two runways by 2026, and in the first phase, facilities will be provided to 60 lakh people, which will later be upgraded to 4 crore people. The government aims to make arrangements for A-380 double-decker flights to land at the airport.

Sharing his joy on laying the foundation stone, GMR Group Chairman Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao, who will be executing the project, said, “Today is one of the happiest days of my life. My first airport foundation stone was laid by Late YS Rajashekhar Reddy and today his son, AP CM YS Jagan is laying the foundation stone for an airport in my hometown. It’s a proud moment for me.”

MD of Adani Groups, Rajesh Adani added, “CM Jagan is a uniquely visionary leader who achieved 70% GDP growth rate without compromising on social welfare. Gram Sachivalayams, Navaratnalus are truly a benchmark governance that every state could follow.”

Reminding the public about TDP’s treachery, CM Jagan said, “TDP government laid the foundation stone for this airport in 2019 just two months ahead of elections without taking any land permits. This is how they fooled the public. However, all works and permits for the Airport have been acquired by our YSRCP government. No conspiracy can stop development as long as I have your (public) blessings.”

The Chief Minster also extended a heartfelt thank you to the public across Andhra Pradesh for the overwhelming support that they showered on CM Jagan in the recently concluded ‘Jagananne Maa Bhavishyathu’ mega people’s survey. CM Jagan challenged TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu, who has been in politics for 40 years, to take up a similar survey and seek support from people on the basis of work done, if he had the guts. “I have the confidence of going to every household to seek support including core TDP bastions. I have done that in 1.5 crore households recently. Does Chandrababu Naidu have the guts to do the same?,” challenged CM Jagan.
